About The Role:
The Regional Innovation Manager works closely with Functional team, Projects and Regional managers to expand Bechtel’s innovation footprint in the region, develop the end-to-end Information Management strategy, and digital solutions for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) region’s unique customer requirements.
In this role you will be supporting proposals, projects and focusing on growing and showcasing Bechtel’s Innovation capability and maturity while expanding culture of Innovation within KSA including soliciting, developing, piloting, and implementing innovation opportunities related to ES&H, Construction, Productivity, Sustainability.
As part of this role you will be accountable for developing and delivering execution plans, training plans and required upskilling associated with EPC workflows and digital solutions to the organization and projects. This role will be reporting with the Infrastructure GBU Innovation Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify innovation opportunities for prospects and projects working closely with the Infrastructure PIIM team, including reviewing existing Bechtel Innovate innovations menu and suggesting potential new opportunities for additional exploration, contributing to the GBU’s innovation strategy and roadmaps.
- Understand, document, and implement applicable innovation use-cases, including required modifications, in support of project scope and Bechtel’s role and enhance the Technical Readiness Level (TRL) as appropriate.
- Support proposals & project pursuits by showcasing Bechtel’s experience and capability in deployment of innovation & digital solutions.
- Collaborate with the functional team and projects to identify customer value proposition, challenges and priorities, develop key technologies and solution to support the prototyping, piloting, and scaling of applicable emerging technologies to maximize innovation value.
- Contribute to developing, communicating, and institutionalizing standardized process, digital, and data workflows within projects and execution units.
- Serve as a liaison between PIIM functional leads and projects within the region to support project SMEs, subcontractors and IT in aid of the seamless implementation of project impactful innovations and digital solutions.
- Establish the impact measures for identified innovations and coordinate with Project Controls the value capture approach and applicable trend program items to track.
- Develop and populate value/ROI business cases collaboratively with cross-functional team members for prioritized innovations to capture innovation impact, cost savings, and project benefit to support the strategy.
- Be the conduit for Bechtel innovations to Infrastructure GBU, promoting the culture of innovation in a structured, practical, customer-focused, and value-driven manner.
- Facilitate focused ideation campaigns as required to generate innovation ideas to address critical project needs. Identify new patent opportunities and coordinate with project legal and supply chain leadership.
- Conduct project review for best practices, lessons learned and deployment status per agreed innovation use-cases and seek opportunities for improvement.
- Capture issues, lessons learned, solicit idea/prototype/pilot feedback, and share these amongst key stakeholders and with solution providers.
- Develop progress, quality, and other reports and innovation KPI dashboards for project management.
- Communicate and present the results of the innovation implementations, KPIs and key status updates, highlighting measurable impact and further development opportunities.
- Conduct regular market assessments to keep track of the new solution providers across the critical functional areas per identified use cases and project value-based priorities.
- Keep up to date with new and innovative digital & physical solutions and platform.
- Research innovative solutions and methodologies to use and develop processes to create a unique project experience both internally and externally.
- Responsible for the overall stakeholder’ training plan, gap assessment, and upskilling associated with the delivery of the digital and innovation solutions to the organization and projects in the region.
- Identify and host training, mentoring and knowledge sharing activities, including development of training material, presentations, and multimedia formats for functional teams, project, M&BD and operations teams.
- Work with stakeholders to develop, disseminate and implement program-wide standards for technologies and processes.
- Target end-to-end solutions to facilitate a structured approach for capturing, integrating, accessing, visualizing and reporting project life-cycle information which benefit the program/project delivery and hand-over to O&M/customer.
- Facilitate the use of 3D, 4D & 5D, 6D to support construction planning, logistics, and coordination to enable AR/VR, immerse technologies, and Digital Twin for construction and handover requirements.
- Ensuring lessons learned and collaborative processes are performed in a consistent manner across projects in the region.
- Liaising with PIIM Functional team, Bechtel Innovate, BEO and project team to identify and grow innovation champions on projects, for advancing ideas and ensuring a supported transition to full implementation.
- Increasing project awareness of solutions in-flight and innovation activities in general
- Communicating with sector leads, M&BD, clients and supporting the demonstration of innovation solutions
- Coordinate digital/innovation related requirements with the functional team to include as part of the contractor flow-downs.
- Work with project procurement and contracts to embed standard contract language for embedding EIRs related to BIM/GIS/IOT/Machine Control/Data, etc.
- Serving as a conduit between Bechtel Innovate, Infrastructure functional Innovation team and KSA including the greater innovation community and projects.
- Utilizing crowdsourcing platforms for targeted ideation and facilitating innovation priorities
Skills
Job Qualification
- B.S./M.S Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science with 10+ years of experience in engineering/ construction innovation or technology in design and construction with min. 7+ years as BIM/VDC manager, innovation/technology deployment lead for construction
- Understand project workflows from estimation, design, construction management, sub-contract administration and coordination through to handover to the client.
- Previous experience implementing innovative and digital technologies and methodologies in construction.
- Understanding digital tools and processes used in engineering and construction such as Revit, Civil3D, 4D Planning, AR/VR technology solutions, integrating GIS for field data collection and visualization, data analytics, PowerApps, use-cases related to drone imagery, AI/ML and machine control. Familiar with databases and information management principles.
- Familiar with collaboration and data and information management solutions: CDEs, BIM 360 Suite, Navisworks, Infraworks for visualization, 3D/BIM-enabled quantity takeoff, Synchro4D, ESRI GIS Field Maps/Survey 123
- Proven experience leading and participating in cross-functional initiatives as a change agent.
- Proficient in oral, visual, and written communications skills. Collaborate well in a team environment. Experience presenting to executive level audiences is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities.
- Design thinking experience and/or familiarity with six sigma and LEAN principles is a plus.
- Expertise with crowdsourcing platforms, ideation tools and techniques is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure follow through in its discussions.
- Experience in organizational change management and institutionalizing new processes and tools.
- 4D modeling, building construction story boarding, sequencing, CPM scheduling.
- Understand the solution deck and use-cases for Digital Twin for Construction and O&M related to Rail, Heavy Civil and Urban Infrastructure and use of AI/Analytics to enhance outcomes for each use-case.
- Familiar deploying construction solutions from key equipment suppliers such as Trimble, Propeller, Honda, Volvo, Caterpillar, etc.
- Advance communication and presentation skills is a must for this role.
- Experience working in KSA or an understanding of technology company landscape in KSA is a plus
