Job Description

The Associate Director - Transport Planning performs various management, leadership, and people management accountabilities for a specific discipline. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organising, executing, and coordinating technical assignments and has formal supervisory responsibilities defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed. Manages a group of transport planners across grades, coordinating activities of the unit. Implements the business plans in particular utilisation, utilising the resources locally, in the Middle East, GDC and South Africa and is responsible for making day-to-day decisions for the team. Strengthens the transport planning area by providing training and development of employees. Requires the ability to proactively identify opportunities to support the overall growth of the Discipline area.Team Management:Supports the Director in implementing the overall discipline strategic goals. Responsible for working with the Team Leads/Managers and Principals in managing a team. Ensures effective communication of technical and business issues to all reporting staff and the wider team. Accountable for the results of the discipline department and adherence to approved project budgets. Fully accountable for the team's utilisation targets. Accountable for various management, leadership, and people management responsibilities for a specific discipline group or department. Supports business change management initiatives (i.e., quality management, safety) mandated by senior leadership. Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates the staff within the department and provides support to GDC to identify and develop skills. Advises local management on growth, staff recruitment and retention strategies.
